Light of Hope — A One-of-a-Kind Gathered Fountain Pen, Embodied with the Passion and Craftsmanship of Wajima
January 1, 2024. That day, we encountered both the unfathomable strength and the profound sorrow held within the land of Wajima. The "Light of Hope" (Kibou no Hikari) fountain pen was born as a tribute to the reconstruction of Wajima and as a solemn vow that the earthquake will never be forgotten. It stands as the origin of our Gathered fountain pen series.
Even at this very moment, there are artisans in Wajima dedicatedly continuing their lacquer work. To share their pride and spirit with the world, we are once again offering this exceptional piece.
Supreme Grip Created by Gathered Artistry and Tame-nuri
The "gathered" (pleated) design is meticulously carved from a solid block of ebonite. These innovative ridges are far more than mere design; they provide an outstanding hold that feels as if it were clinging to your hand, offering stability that ensures you will not feel fatigue even during long writing sessions. Furthermore, the structure functions like a radiator, suppressing thermal changes in the ink within the barrel to maintain its condition for consistent writing.
Over these pleats lies the traditional Wajima-nuri technique known as Tame-nuri (pooling lacquer). As you use the pen, its transparency increases, and the color of the base layer gradually emerges—a unique aging process that will carve your own personal history into the fountain pen.
Supervised by Kozo Yamazaki (Organizer of the Kobe Pen Show / Representative of y.y penclub)
The aesthetics and uncompromising standards of Kozo Yamazaki, a man who lives and breathes fountain pens, are condensed into every detail. Functionality, artistry, and reliability as a writing tool—this is an extraordinary pen that refuses to compromise in any regard.

Nishijin-ori
Nishijin weaving
When you think about raising silk from silkworms, how much time, effort, and labor does it take?
Starting with the design and dyeing the thread, a single piece of textile is completed through more than 20 steps.
Each and every step of the process is still carried out carefully by hand.
While most Nishijin-ori textiles use synthetic fibers such as polyester, we use fabrics from Konkan Shoten, a long-established Kyoto store that specializes in pure silk.
