Hōsōge (Shikkō fountainpen version)
“Hōsōge” – A Timeless Flower of Imagination
Shipping will begin after August 1st.
From the depths of lacquer, a dreamlike bloom quietly emerges.
A harmonious blend of traditional craftsmanship and artistic vision, this fountain pen embodies auspicious wishes and the essence of eternity in an exceptionally elegant form.
This pen is a unique creation featuring tamenuri—a translucent lacquer finish characteristic of Wajima-nuri crafted with natural urushi—graced with hōsōge, an imaginary floral motif delicately engraved in the chinkin technique.
Hōsōge, a fantastical flower born from lotus and peony, arrived in Japan from ancient China and has adorned treasures of the Shōsōin repository as a symbol of prosperity, nobility, good fortune, and eternal life.
Each blossom is etched with delicate precision, enhanced by charcoal shading. Depending on the angle of light and movement of the hand, the flower reveals itself quietly, as if blooming in silence.
From the finial to the barrel’s end—
Every section of this pen is adorned with chinkin, creating a graceful sense of unity and presence.
It carries the subtle aura of a noble flower in stillness.
Crafted from ebonite, a material known for its warmth and unique texture, each pen is carefully finished by the hands of experienced artisans.
Over time, the lacquer becomes more translucent, and the design reveals an even deeper radiance.
This pen will continue to bloom—quietly and gracefully—as it ages with the stories of its owner.
Shōsōin Beauty in the Palm of Your Hand
The hōsōge motif once carried the prayers and ideals of master artisans of the Tenpyō era.
This fountain pen inherits that spirit and elevates it into a tool of daily expression.
A flower that blooms in silence. A voice that speaks with grace.
—An eternal treasure, made for those who appreciate true artistry.

Nishijin-ori
Nishijin weaving
When you think about raising silk from silkworms, how much time, effort, and labor does it take?
Starting with the design and dyeing the thread, a single piece of textile is completed through more than 20 steps.
Each and every step of the process is still carried out carefully by hand.
While most Nishijin-ori textiles use synthetic fibers such as polyester, we use fabrics from Konkan Shoten, a long-established Kyoto store that specializes in pure silk.
